Driveway Eggs Update and More!

For everyone who has been wondering, or as I like to call her, Robin, here is an update on the status of the driveway eggs...they aren't scrambled yet.

I am pleased to provide you with some pictures of Mama Bird courtesy of my dad.

Here we find her in the rare position of actually protecting the eggs she so carelessly placed in what may be the worst spot ever to build a nest.

My mom did a little research and seems to think that she is a "plover" (the bird...not my mom.) Sure. Why not? Let's say a plover.

So just to recap: Eggs still incubating, Mama Bird still a little flighty :)

And now for some good news...

We were able to spring him.

He's just glad to be home.

Thanks, Uncle Sean, for the cute hat :)

ok, i am reviewing the pictures of the "driveway bird" i now do not think it is a plover....the birds bill is different and there are more bands on this birds neck than the plover......any bird watchers out there?

Serg and I LOVE watching birds!!! I looked up some Southeastern birds and it does look like a collared plover. What pretty eggs they have!!! Have you seen this friendly fellow before??? Are they common in your area??? Isn't it so neat that God has given us such a variety to enjoy!!!:) Thanks for the updates and we look forward to seeing the wee ones:)

My guess would be a Killdeer http://www.birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/BirdGuide/Killdeer.html

You beat me to it, Cheer :) My mother, the bird researcher, just called me yesterday to say that she thinks it is a killdeer. Who knew?
