Later On We'll Conspire

I think the scales at doctors offices (specifically OBs) are not balanced properly. I think all the obstetricians got together and decided to set their scales to weigh you at a good four to five pounds heavier than you really are. They keep you under their thumb better this way. You're defeated and desperate, therefore more inclined to do whatever they tell you.

Well I'm on to them and their evil plot (did I mention I'm pregnant?)

I get on the scale for my first appointment and I weighed--of course--4 pounds more than I did just 30 minutes before on my scale at home (which I know to be highly accurate.) So the nurse asks me my pre-pregnancy weight. So I just added four pounds to what I knew my starting weight to be. Take that. You're gonna have a faulty scale, then I'm gonna make the necessary adjustments. No condescending glances or offers of an appointment with a nutritionist for me, thank you kindly. (maybe I've been down this road before?)

So yeah, July 3. I'll be 10 weeks on Wednesday. Everything looks good. Got to see a sweet little heartbeat. Very happy and thankful indeed.

Congrats again! I am with you on the scale bit. My OB's scale was definitely heavier.

Funny story...I went to our family doctor bc I had a cold while I was prego with Luke. I went back when Luke was about 6 months old, and the nurse was like, "Wow! Somebody lost a LOT of weight!" when I stepped on the scale. I was tempted to say, "Yeah. I had that Lap Band surgery." But instead I told her the truth.

Btw, I started playing your little DBC game tonight.

The world definitely needs another Rives. It's happy news indeed.

And why did I always feel the need to take off my shoes before getting weighed? I should have left them on and blamed any excessive gain on the 5 pound Danskos.

Poppy and I are truly happy just thinking about #3. We really don't care if it is a boy or a girl. You and Kris have done such a good job with boys...both beautiful and well behaved. Keep up the good work!

I'm so glad that I'm not alone. Went to the dr. yesterday and thought the exact same thing.

I'm glad you've official announced it to the world. Can't wait to find out if it's a boy or girl!! Let me know when you decide on names. I'm sure baby Rives will need a special personalized gift!!
