The Christmas Tree Chronicles: Part II

Here it is! Nothing too spectacular, but better than nothing, I feel I can safely say. I had to go buy shatterproof ornaments because of you-know-who. So we have 30 colored balls and one Prince Charming and Cinderella ornament that Kris' brother and his wife gave us the Christmas that we got engaged.

Sad story though regarding the aforementioned ornament: I placed it on one of the limbs, but apparently not far enough back, and it fell to the ground. I'm sure it scared Cinderella but P.C. took the brunt of the fall, as any good prince would.

I'm not so sure what is written on the ornament holds true for this couple...

Poor Prince C. But Kris told me he will glue his head back on. The upside of being plastic.

Anyway, back to the festivities. Here is the mantle all decked out.

I think it's pretty clear who the second child is. My sweet little Judah Bear will be getting a picture in his stocking hanger! Poor baby.

Um, well...that's about it. But the Rives have a tree!!! And I really do like it. It smells good, it keeps Jude mesmerized for quite a while, and it's ours.

ps--the door that the tree is in front of is our useless side door that leads to our useless backyard so we never go through that door. just wanted to clarify :)

I think your tree is beautiful! You can collect ornaments one by one and they will have memories attached. It's more fun that way anyway. During our 8 years of marriage we have had a tradition to purchase an ornament whenever we go on a trip. Most places sell them year-round, but sometimes we are just creative. Also, we get one ornament for each other and one for the kids every Christmas.

That's a great idea, Amanda. I would like to have memories attached to them instead of just buying a bunch just to have them.

And I added you to my link list--is that ok? ;)

Cool tree! You've done a great job, especially for a first-timer! :0) We also collect ornaments each year whenever we travel, but I had to go and make it more difficult by having a theme of snowmen, so we have to find "snowman" ornaments whenever we're outta town..lots of interesting adventures, but so far we've been able to find one from every place!
Anyway, great tree!

great idea to buy just 1 or 2 each year, or else you will have way too many in a few years. now that people know you have a tree, i bet you get some as gifts this year, too!! :) Looks great, way to go Rives family!

Is that a picture I took of Asher? It looks like it, but I can't really tell. If so, they I feel cool making the mantle.

Yes, it is a Fruit on the Vines Photography photo. I/m sorry--I shouldn't just go splashing your copyrighted material all over the world wide web like that. Please don't sue me.

Cute stockings..where from?

You've got to hand it to Cinderella for stickin' by her man through that tragic accident. Very admirable, really.

The stockings are from Pottery Barn Kids. On clearance for $4.99 :) They always discount there stockings by over 70% by spring, so I buy them then.
