A Little (Too Much) About Me

So I went to a Latin Fusion class at the gym last night. It was so much fun! Kris calls me a gym rat now. If I had a tan and muscles, and maybe overly processed hair, I might agree with him. But the class was awesome! I love classes that make you forget you are working out. When I am on the treadmill, my thoughts are consumed with the fact that I am voluntarily torturing myself. But when I am grooving to a Latin beat, time passes much more quickly.

Ever heard the saying, "Nine months on, nine months off," regarding post-partum weightloss? Well I took my full nine months--even though I was pregnant 41 weeks, which is more like 10 months, but whatever--but I am happy to say I am back, baby! All my clothes with the exception of one pair of pants from Anthropoligie, a store, I am convinced, is off on it's sizing anyway, fit. It is so nice to have options again. I feel so much better and healthier! I still have more to go because I would like a nice little buffer zone for the next pregnancy, but I am pleased with my progress thus far.

However, I have been pregnant or losing pregnancy weight for the better part of the last 3.5 years. So most of my clothes are from circa 2005. Thanks to one of my two shopping policies, namely "Always buy classics" I don't feel too outdated, but it would be nice to get a few new things. (Incidentally, my other policy is "Never pay full price for retail.") So what are some key pieces that I could add to my wardrobe that will update me? I need help from any cool, well-dressed people that read this.

I cleaned the baseboards in my bathroom yesterday. Seriously. Along with the rest of my bathroom. So now my closet is nice and organized and my bathroom is sparkling.

Jude is fussing right now because he is laboring under the delusion that he does not need a morning nap. He is quite wrong.

I am making whole wheat pasta salad with feta and toasted walnuts for dinner tonight. My sweet carnivore of a husband will be running sound tonight so I get to make a meatless dish and call it dinner. I think I'm a "flexitarian." I like meat and while I would rather not meditate on the process involved in getting it to HEB, I think I could be happy with way less of it. Not so with Mr. Rives. It is not a meal unless meat is involved. I can respect that.

I must stop here because I have a mom's bible study today. Please don't forget to leave any wardrobe suggestions you have for me in the comments. kthanksbye. (totally stole that from you, J-Thib.)

There are so many things to comment on in this post. Where do I start?

Congrats on the weight loss! *high five*

Oh, and if you want to use proper LOLspeak, I believe you need to say "kthnxbai." Thank you, internet, for that awesome language that eliminates those pesky extra letters.

but bai and bye have the same number of letters...why not go ahead and spell it correctly? i'm so not hip.

Haha! Flattered, I'm sure. ;)

I am so proud of you for working out so hard! You are my hero.

Staple clothing items? A nautical striped shirt, any color pencil skirt, and any fantastic, unique, shape hugging summer dress. Those are my person must-haves! (Totally findable in the sale sections!)

I knew I could count on you :) You need to come shop with me sometime.

I tried a dress of the "shape hugging" variety on at Whole Earth Provision yesterday and did NOT like where it hugged. Plus it was WAY too expensive. I like the eco-chic look but it is apparently very costly to make hemp soft enough to wear. Sometimes I find things I like on sale there. Yes, Anthropologie runs small. Either that or Gap and Target are all about the vanity sizing.

way to go! loved that post, and even though I would never call myself "cool and well-dressed", I did find some good deals at Ann taylor loft in kwood last week.

another good rule to shop by: no ironing required!

I think you are supposed to misspell as many words as possible to make it harder for the old, unhip people to decipher what you are saying. Confusion is key as is using bad grammar.

i can haz cunfoozun?

I would LOVE to come shop! That's only my favorite pastime ever. Next time I'm in Houston, we're getting together.

Hey girl
Some basics in my closet:

1)A couple of maxi dresses (they cinch at the smallest part of your waist and flare out a-line style for a very flattering, yet comfortable fit.) Old Navy, Banana Republic, and Target have some in knee-length and ankle-length.

2)Cardigans -short sleeved, and 3/4 sleeved. My new favorite way is to cinch with a wide belt at the small of the waist. See here for pics. http://www.zimbio.com/Online+Shopping+Deals/articles/8062/Fall+2008+Fashion+Trend+Belted+Cardigan

3)Pencil skirts are a must(make sure they hit right at or just below the knee), along with some cute peep-toe pumps, preferably of the animal skin variety. (like snake-skin for a little sizzle!)

4) I love the blouses that have a defined dropped waist and puffed sleeves, but are blousey in the middle to hide imperfections, make the waist appear smaller, and are very light and comfortable to wear. Here's an example of one. http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=46470&vid=1&pid=634318&scid=634318072

5) Of course every girl needs some cute camis for layering under other shirts, cardigans, jackets, or other camis! And the ones at Old Navy and Express aren't too tight and have pretty embellishments on the neckline that you can dress up or down.

6) And finally, you definitely need a cute, structured purse in a nuetral color (like red or black), and fuschia is a HOT color this season in either accessories or clothing!
