An Update and A Picture

Here's a numerically-themed summation of what's been going on...

--It's day 10 of birthday month.

--Asher turned 9 months old on Wednesday.

--I bought 8 items at Whole Foods this week, one of which being Burt's Bees Very Volumizing Pomegranate and Soy Shampoo and I really like it.

-- I have 7 more pounds to lose before I reach my goal weight, also referred to as "wedding weight."--my weight at the best wedding I've ever been to. My goal was to have it gone by my birthday. That's probably not going to happen. But since starting South Beach, I have lost about 40 lbs. Since giving birth, I have lost 66. That is both exhilarating and disturbing.

--It's been 6 days since I last posted.

--We had dinner last night with a family that has 5 children. If this mom and dad wrote a book on how to raise children, I would read it...twice.

-- I put 4 ingredients in my salad tonight: walnuts, dried cranberries, Fuji apples, and organic lettuce. Plus olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I guess that's 6. Never mind.

-- Kris has less than 3 weeks left until Thanksgiving break. This is the time at which he will realize why being a teacher is not so bad. We are looking forward to 3 days with him!

--We went to 2 birthday parties today and they were super fun.

--I am currently looking for songs that have the word "one" in them. I plan on downloading them from iTunes and playing them as the background music for Asher's 1st birthday. If you can think of any, leave them in the comments. Thanks!

Very clever countdown, and great idea on the the background music for the party. I won't steal that one... Congrats on #7 (lbs. left to lose)!! That is awesome!!

"One" song that comes to mind is U2's song "One" off the Achtung Baby CD.

I love the details of the photo!!! Is Asher getting another toofy because that's a pretty good amount of drool!!!!!!;) Have you been over to a Gift of Health(next to 24 Fitness) or the health section in HEB??? They both have stuff you may not have to go ALL the way inside the Loop for. Good to hear from ya', chica!

You are the second person to mention that shampoo - I'm adding it to my shopping list. My current shampoo is crap. :)

That sounds like a good salad. I like Asher's teeth. I don't think I'm being a sycophant when I say that the picture of you at your shower a few posts back did not look like a girl who needed to lose 66 pounds. That's a serious accomplishment. The only "one" song I can think of, aside from the aforementioned U2 offering (which is a little melancholy) is "One Is The Loneliest Number" which is a LOT melancholy. I'll ask my friend Joanna who is quite the authority on musicals--surely there's a peppy Rogers and Hammerstein song out there that has something happy to say about "one".

Ahhh - 66 lbs gone! Wow - I need that!!! I'm 40 down and too many more to go. Pregnancy + me = BIG mama!!

One - hmmm, U2 has a song with "One love, one life." And let's see - "one way or another, i'm gonna getcha getcha getcha". "One night in Bankok" and "you're still the one" and "one is the loneliest number" and "1,2,3,4 come on baby say you love me" -

I'll try to think of more! What a FUN idea!

Yay! Thanks for the suggestions!!! Keep 'em coming!

And Patti--I was massive...if you saw me in person, you would see why 66 lbs. needed to be gone.

Lis--A's got 5 chompers! We're so proud!

Jenni--I feel a little honored that I was able to suggest a product to you, because you are quite the queen of products!

Adrienne--Isn't marital bliss great! I started out my pregnancy with quite a few marital bliss pounds already there :)

And this is for those of us that read Patti's comment and had no clue, like me...
A sycophant (Gr. συκοφάντης) is a servile person who, acting in their own self interest, attempts to win favor by flattering one or more influential people, with an undertone that this is at the cost of their own personal pride, principles, and peer respect. The Anglo-Saxon equivalent is toady, or perhaps hanger-on.

Patti is a logophile :)

Wow--your definition is fancy. In my head, a sycophant is an obsequious flatterer (a "brown-noser" if we must be crude. For the sake of humility, I must confess that the first time I tried this word out after having learned it, I mangled the pronunciation (I said 'PSYCHO-fant', it's actually 'sicko-fant') and my professor made fun of me in front of the entire class. Even at A&M, that's embarrassing.

That's the definition I got from Mr. Wikipedia. I didn't think it was quite right because of the "influential person" part, but I just went with it anyway :)
