You are not going to believe this!
If you know me at all, or if you have read previous posts of me bemoaning my lack of "Martha Stewart-ness," you will be shocked to hear what I am doing!
After months of searching and finding nothing, I have decided to make Asher's bumper pads and dust ruffle! Everything I found in the stores or online was either way too expensive or way too ugly. So I went to Hancock Fabric and found these two lovely fabrics and am in the process of making the bedding. Here's the thing though...I don't really know how to sew!
Here are the two fabrics that I have selected. The chocolate brown polka dot will be the dust ruffle and here is the bumper pad waiting patiently on the floor for me to sew the ties on to it.
The goal is to get it finished in the next few days...we'll see!
And because no post is complete without an Asher picture...

Ah, Jamie--you are a budding Martha Stewart. I know your craftiness is just bubbling below the surface and the fabulous bumper and glider cover are proof of it! It looks even better in person and I'm so impressed!!
And all this while caring for Asher!! Bonus points!

That is so cool! I love the patterns. I am a huge fan of blue and brown. Please keep us posted on your progress. And, be realistic with what you can do. Just taking care of that sweet baby is a HUGE job in itself! One day, I want to learn to sew as well. :) Yeah, you!
Way to go! It sounds like it's turning out better than the couch covers...
I want to learn to sew. Not that I have anything to sew, but I feel like it could come in handy someday. Maybe you (in all your infinite sewing wisdom) could teach me sometime when I'm in town.
Jamie- LOVE LOVE LOVE the fabrics you have! So very cute. I am teacheing myself how to sew. I have sewn halloween costumes each year for the kiddos, and love doing that. The last two years I did them for our whole family. Boy, is it time consuming making 5 costumes. I too, am sewing bedroom stuff! I am making the entire set for my youngest ones room. I loved her crib set, so I went and found fabrics to match it all so I could keep the colors and decor.... We want to see pics when you are done!!! Have a good time with it!
Robin--I will be happy to teach you all I know...assuming you have 5 minutes to spare. And yes, this project does seem to be turning out slightly better than the hideous slipcovers!
Wendy--wow! 5 costumes...I'm not sure I'm anywhere near that level yet!
What, you don't have enough to do? No way was I making anything the first 3 months of Steven's life- we were just trying to survive! So, very impressive with the burst of creative energy. Good luck...I love the fabric.
I think since I missed out on the "nesting" phase of pregnancy, I'm trying to make up for it. I would like to point out that the bumper is still on the floor waiting for the ties to be sewn on...
I am so proud of you!! I dabble in sewing, but it is always a little intimidating to me!!!
WOW! Seriously, when Eleanor was Asher's age, if I had a spare moment, I was doing laundry or crying. Way to go, you!! Love the fabrics!
Laundry? Oh yeah... I should probably do some of that :)
So how is the bumper project coming along?
Miss you guys...
